Bio

Ryan hails from Hampden, ME, home of the mighty Hampden Academy Broncos. His childhood is filled with memories of his dad leaving for work at Snowman Printing everyday, and helping his mother and siblings clean Snowman Printing on the weekends.

He and his siblings were blessed to have a very close relationship with their grandparents, Ed and Mary Armstrong, the company’s long time President and Treasurer. Ryan lives by the family motto, instilled by his parents and grandparents: Faith, Family, Friends and Country.

Like his father and uncle, Ryan graduated from Maine Maritime Academy in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering and a Minor in Humanities. While at MMA, Ryan spent four years in Navy ROTC and upon graduation, commissioned into the United States Navy Reserve.

Ryan sailed commercially on oil tankers for seven years with Crowley Marine, transporting diesel fuel and gasoline along the Gulf of Mexico. While not at sea and at work, he fulfilled his drill requirements for the Navy and traveled around the country skiing and visiting friends. Ahhh what a life!

In 2020, Ryan accepted a three-year US Navy Active Duty tour as an Assistant Professor at Maine Maritime’s Navy ROTC unit.

In February 2024, with his military tour complete, Ryan joined the family business at The Snowman Group, where he’s learning every facet of the company.

Ryan and his wife welcomed their first child, a boy, in the fall of 2024. Together, they enjoy spending time with their large group of friends, traveling, and spending summer nights at camp. Ryan is heavily involved in the community and church, loves the outdoors, and has a passion for jetskis!
